Cozumel and it's world class dive sites are only a short distance away from Playa del Carmen. The impressive reef there will leave you in awe. An Advanced certification is recommended because of the depth and strong currents but it is possible for Open Water divers to experience the shallower side of the reef in Cozumel. We can even combine diving in Cozumel with the PADI courses that we offer.
We have 2 ways to access the reefs in Cozumel. The fastest option is to take a speed boat directly from the beach here in Playa del Carmen. This boat leaves early in the morning and then it is only about a 45 minute ride across to Cozumel. The boat brings us directly to the dive sites where we make 2 amazing dives and have a small lunch in between. Finlay the boat brings us back to Playa del Carmen, arriving in the early afternoon.
The second option is to take the 8 A.M. ferry from Playa to Cozumel and then go diving with one of the boats on the island. This way takes more time and is a full day excursion, but it is a good option because the boats from the island can go to better dive sites and it is nice to spend a little time on the island after the diving.
